Incarlopsa, the Castilla-La Mancha-based market leader in the production and processing of pork products, has contributed to protection of the environment by saving 10,682 equivalent tons of CO2<\/sub> between 2016 and 2019.<\/p>\n More specifically, the certificates issued by Ecoembes, a non-profit environmental organisation active in the promotion of sustainability and care for the environment through recycling, endorse Incarlopsa’s environmental commitment to reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions through the recycling of packaging. As such, the company prevented the emission of 1,424 equivalent tons of CO2 <\/sub>in 2016, 2,564 tons in 2017, 3,212 tons in 2018 and 3,477 tons in 2019.<\/p>\n The company expects this gradual increase in the reduction of CO2 emissions to continue in the future, in line with the company\u00b4s strategy of sustainable development in which a commitment to innovation plays a major role.<\/p>\n Furthermore, Incarlopsa recently certified the company’s carbon footprint for the second consecutive year in accordance with the guidelines of standard UNE-EN ISO 14064-1: 2012, under the supervision of an independent entity and in line with the company\u00b4s environmental commitment. The company has also renewed its UNE-EN ISO 14001 certification, an international standard designed to assess the efficacy of the group’s environmental management system and to certify compliance with the environmental regulations in force.<\/p>\n Participation in an international R&D project for the development of packaging materials geared to the creation of the circular economy<\/strong><\/p>\n With regard to the environment, this commitment to innovation is consolidated in the implementation of R&D projects geared to reducing the environmental footprint arising from the company’s activity.<\/p>\n For example, Incarlopsa is part of an international project entitled \u201cRecyclable and biodegradable materials for sustainable food packaging (monomatpack)\u201d, with the aim of approving new mono-materials for the production of packaging that guarantees the highest standards of quality of its products, while promoting the circular economy through the subsequent recycling of these materials.
