Incarlopsa’s commitment to the rural environment is firm and its ties with the territory where it was born more than 40 years ago are close. The Castilian-La Mancha-based company, leader in the production and processing of pork products and headquartered in the municipality of Tarancón (Cuenca), carries out all its activities in the rural areas of Castilla-La Mancha, Castilla y León and Andalucia, the regions where its production centers are located.

Incarlopsa’s business model promotes the economy of proximity, prioritizing the contracting of suppliers that operate around the company’s production plants. This model translates into a greater dynamization of the rural environment where the company operates. Thus, in 2022, the value generated by the activity carried out by the company has increased by 16,5% to 844,7 million euros. This represents 1,9% of the Gross Domestic Product of Castilla-La Mancha.

This strategy is aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations and with the commitments of the European Green Deal. Specifically, the value generated by Incarlopsa’s activity contributes to the achievement of SDG 11, focused on making cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable.

The purchase of livestock, one of the determining factors

The purchase of raw material is the main factor contributing to the creation of value in the rural environment. Incarlopsa has allocated 561,4 million euros to the purchase of livestock in 2022, which represents an increase of 21,6% over the previous year and contributes more than 65% of the value generated by the company in the regions where it operates.

In 2022, Incarlopsa returned to purchasing all its raw material (live pork) from 100% domestic suppliers, although it has strengthened its commitment by increasing its network of farms. In total, the company has worked with 1.680 farms, an increase of 11% over the previous year.

In addition, 100% of the white-coat pigs come from suppliers with animal welfare certification. This commitment to the highest quality raw material is also reflected in the adherence of all of them to the National Plan against Antibiotic Resistance (PRAN), which addresses the problem of antibiotic resistance under the One Health concept, which recognizes that human health, animal health and the environment are interrelated. Ensuring a commitment to sustainable and ethical practices in the production chain.

Offering development opportunities to new generations

Incarlopsa’s link with the territory also translates into the creation of employment around its production plants and the generation of personal and professional development opportunities for new generations in the rural environment. Thus, in 2022, Incarlopsa’s activity has given work to more than 4.000 people, between direct and indirect employment.
